Platform: Raspberry Pi, Raspian
This one is kind of cheating. To go along with Jeopardy, we needed a way to let players ring in and lock out the other players (this was before the game show software gained that ability). With a Raspberry Pi, a soldering iron, and some hardware store parts in hand, we made this replica ring-in device that supports most all of the features the real one uses.
Supports three player buttons, three player LEDs, a cancel button and lock-out switch to keep players from ringing in before the clue is fully revealed. Software-wise, it’s a simple loop that keeps polling the player inputs until someone rings in, then locks the other two players out while the first player is active.
